According to company press release, Smurfit Kappa will invest in a state-of-the-art new digital printer at its Atlacomulco Corrugated Plant in Mexico. The installation of the Barberan Jetmaster 1890 printer will help the company meet the increased demand for high-volume digital printing. The capacity of the new high performance multi-colour printer is estimated at around 12 million m2 per annum. This will lead to significant reduction in lead time to get products to market, the press release said.
Commenting on the investment, Juan Guillermo Castaneda, CEO of Smurfit Kappa said that the company is extremely pleased to continue bringing the latest industry innovations to its Mexican operations. Citing Mexico as the key to its operations in the region, Castaneda promised that the company will continue to offer market-leading sustainable packaging solutions to its customers in Mexico.
Jorge Alberto Angel, CEO of Smurfit Kappa Mexico noted that the investment is in line with the company’s objective to respond quickly to customers’ needs. The new printer will offer its customers enhanced branding opportunities and best-in-class service, Angel added.
